Why the need for a new Extended Validation standard?
The last few years have seen an unprecedented increase in fraudulent web sites and phishing attacks. In 2005 the leading Certification Authorities and Browser vendors came together and formed the CABForum (Certification Authorities and Browser) - a membership body designed to standardize issuance procedures of future SSL Certificates.
